Glossary

The language of modern operations.

A working vocabulary for HR, operations, recruitment and the Twikkie platform.

Approval workflow

A configurable chain of reviewers that must sign off on an action — like time off, expenses or compensation changes — before it takes effect.

Audit log

An immutable record of every meaningful change in the system, used for governance, compliance and forensic review.

Blind recruitment

A hiring approach that anonymises identifying candidate details (name, photo, demographics) during screening to reduce bias.

Case management

A structured workflow for handling employee relations or investigatory matters with participants, evidence, SLAs and outcomes.

Compensation record

The structured history of an employee's pay, including base salary, variable comp and any historical changes with effective dates.

Delegation

Temporarily granting authority for an action — like approvals or document access — to another user during leave or absence.

Employee directory

A searchable, RBAC-aware list of every employee, role, department and contact detail used across the organisation.

GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation — the UK/EU data protection framework. Twikkie is designed with GDPR principles in mind.

Geolocation tagging

Capturing the approximate location of a workforce action (e.g., clock-in) for compliance and visibility.

HRIS

Human Resources Information System — the system of record for employee data. Twikkie includes HRIS capabilities as one of many modules.

KPI

Key Performance Indicator — a measurable signal tied to a goal or objective, tracked over time.

Onboarding

The structured process of bringing a new hire into the organisation with the right access, documents and information.

RBAC

Role-Based Access Control — a permission model in which access is granted to roles rather than to individuals directly.

Retention policy

A rule that defines how long a category of data is kept before being archived or deleted.

SLA

Service Level Agreement — a target time within which a case or task must be resolved.

Scorecard

A weighted set of criteria used to evaluate performance, candidates or other entities in a structured, comparable way.

Talent pool

A curated, searchable group of candidates kept warm for future roles, separate from any single active vacancy.

Workflow

A defined sequence of steps that moves a piece of work from one state to another, often with branching, approvals and notifications.
